Akşehir cherry, popularly known as ‘Napoleon’ cherry, which gets its aroma from Akşehir Lake in KONYA; It competes in the world market by exporting to countries such as the USA, England, Russia, China, Germany, Italy and France.
Akşehir cherry is a late-maturing variety that has a harvest period between June 20 and July 20 depending on seasonal conditions. It is very large, with an average weight of 9-13 grams. It has a bright, dark red colour and very hard, crispy, juicy and delicious flesh. It is also very resistant to long-distance transportation and cracking.
Akşehir cherry is grown in an area of over 15 thousand decares in the Akşehir district of Konya province and its surrounding villages. It has an annual production of about 30 thousand tons and contributes greatly to the district economy. Akşehir cherry was registered by the Turkish Patent Institute in 2004 with the name “Akşehir Cherry”.
